Upcoming Performances

We are excited to announce that we have a few small performances coming up this month in March and next month in April.

We will be at the EBASS Open Mic at Thunder Road on 3/15/2016, at 9:30 PM. EBASS is a community of local musicians within the Boston area who come together to help each other find and promote show opportunities, as well as provide resources for self booking.

On 3/23/2016, we will be performing at PA's Lounge in Somerville alongside DB Rouse and Think of England. You can find out more about the event here.

We will also be performing as part of the Soundproofing Benefit show for the Arts at the Armory in Somerville on 4/22/2016. Doors for the event is at 7:30 PM and music starts at 8:00 PM. We will be joined by other local artists as well. The soundproofing benefit is to raise funds to soundproof the venue, which will allow for the venue to play music louder and for longer, as well as open the venue to bigger event opportunities.

We will keep you updated on these events as more details arise. Hope to see you around!

Something Civil w/ Andrew Geano on BostonStoops Podcast

We'll be visiting our friend Andrew Geano today to be featured in an episode of his podcast, BostonStoops, which gives recognition to the live entertainers and artists of Boston - whether it be musicians, poets, comedians, or what have you.

Andrew runs the Terry O'Reilly's Open Mic Jam in Newton, MA, which welcomes many local artists to come together and either perform solo or collaborate with other attendees, and of which we have made several appearances in. Andrew encourages that artists around the Boston area get together and discuss, jam, and help each other in the local entertainment scene.

Once the podcast episode is finished, it will be on the BostonStoops Podcast SoundCloud, so be sure to check it out soon!

Something Civil at The Loop, 1/28 @ 7:30 pm

We are very excited to be performing next Thursday, January 28th, at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville, MA for their songwriting showcasing event, The Loop. We'll be opening the show at 7:30 pm as a duo, with James on guitar and vocals and Aylin on cajon and harmonies.

The free event will be hosted by Kerr Griffin, and will feature many other local artists throughout the night. So join us in the café next Thursday evening for a great time at a great venue!

Calling All Crows' Annual Farm Jam @ Top O' The Hill, Ayer, MA

Something Civil will be joining the 2nd Annual Farm Jam hosted by Calling All Crows in Ayer, MA this Saturday, September 19th.

Calling All Crows hosts an annual farm jam at Top O' The Hill to bring together a community for a day of live music, food, yard games, and more. It encourages people to jam out with other local musicians, as well as show support to Calling All Crows and their campaigns, Forced to Flee and BCTW (Bringing Change to Women).

Calling All Crows is a non-profit organization founded by Chad Stokes of State Radio and Dispatch, and tour manager Sybil Gallagher. Its main focus is to help create change through live music and its fans, by means of impacting their audiences and community. You can find out more about them on their website here.

We look forward to meeting a lot of local musicians and having a blast at the Annual Farm Jam!

You can buy tickets here, and learn more about the event at the Facebook event page here.

Play Me 2015 Has Begun

We are excited to announce that our Play Me project for 2015 has just started!

Play Me is a scavenger hunt of 5-track CDs that contain music by Something Civil, which we scatter throughout Boston, MA and areas surrounding Boston. These CDs are placed in tourist locations, populated spaces, and overlooked areas - such as parks, monuments, train stations, and along interesting sidewalks. We will be posting images of the locations, as well as hints, on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

If you have picked up one of these mysterious CDs and followed it here, thank you. You can help us with our project by sharing the CD with others, or by simply hiding it in a location for another open mind to find.

We hope you enjoy hunting for Play Me CDs as much as we enjoy scattering them!
